Yesterday ARK Innovation Fund (ARKK) rose 9.10%. Many are claiming it was a short squeeze. The answer was yes it was a short squeeze on many names ARKK holds which caused ARKK to rise sharply.
To start with, the ETF itself has a short ration of 1.66, so less than two days to cover the trade. The short intensity is now at 0%. So the ETF itself is really not a squeeze but it is because of what is held in the ETF.
Moving over to the names in the ETF. 13 of the 35 names have short intensity above 60%. Another 3 are above 50%. However, many of the biggest movers had low short intensity but still had a high short ratio. 23 of the 35 are above 3.00. So the short squeeze may continue in ARKK names as those short the underlying names are stuck in a roach motel, you can check in but not check out. Below are the names.
